If you’re hosting your first Thanksgiving in your new home, these three tips will help you through the big day.
Hosting Your First Thanksgiving: 3 Essential Tips
First things first: Never turn down an offer to help. If people offer to bring dishes, let them! It’s easier for you, and your friends and family will love pitching in.
Thanksgiving Tip #1: Work Ahead
Cook as much as you can ahead of time. Some things, like turkey (check out our awesome turkey recipe, too) have to wait until the big day – but mashed potatoes and making breadcrumbs can be done beforehand.
Thanksgiving Tip #2: This is NOT the Time to Try Something New
Don’t experiment with new recipes for Thanksgiving. Try them a few weeks out instead – or just stick to the classics, which are what your guests will expect, anyway.
Thanksgiving Tip #3: Set the Table the Day Before
There’s nothing that says you have to set up your centerpiece or place cards on Thanksgiving morning. In fact, do it as far ahead as you can. You’ll save yourself stress and you’ll have plenty of time to perfect your setup if you do it at least the day before Thanksgiving.
