If you haven’t been to the 2017 Festival of Lights at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center, now is the time to go! The lights go out on Sunday, December 24, and the beautiful display won’t start again until December 2018.
What is the Festival of Lights?
The Festival of Lights is a Florida State Parks tradition. The best part is Holiday Magic Nights, which only happen on the weekends. You’ll find free hot cocoa, popcorn, marshmallow roasting, bonfires and more. Kids can participate in craft activities, stand under a real snow flurry and watch the miniature train wind through a tiny landscape. There’s a gift shop, music in the tower, and Santa himself makes a few appearances.
Tickets are sold at the location, but the last ones go out at 8:30 p.m. (and the entry gates close at that time, as well).
Monday through Thursday, you can enjoy Silent Nights. These are self-guided tours where you can meander through the light displays at your own pace. Food and concessions are available, but the train display is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Magic Nights tickets: $3 per person, and kids under 3 are free
