When you’re selling your home in Lake City or any of the surrounding communities, it’s important to stage it from top to bottom. That includes the outdoors, because the first impression prospective buyers get is of your curb appeal.
So where do you start when it’s time to boost your curb appeal?
3 Curb Appeal Projects That Can Help You Sell Your Home
When you’re getting ready to sell your home, your Realtor(R) will walk through with you and identify areas that could use some improvement – and he may also point out a few ways to improve your curb appeal. Before your agent comes over for a walk-through, though, you can tackle these projects:
- Clean up the lawn
- Add some color
- Arrange the backyard like an outdoor living space
Clean Up the Lawn
Cut the grass, trim the bushes and clean up yard debris. Put away kids’ toys – or at least organize them – and make sure there’s nothing cluttering up the yard. When prospective buyers pull up at the curb, they’ll form their first impression of your home… and that impression will come into the house with them, so if the impression they get isn’t favorable, they’re unlikely to get attached to the inside of your house.
Add Some Color
Potted plants are a great addition to any yard. Choose flowers in bloom to add pops of color in important places, like around the front door, along the walkways and on your patio or deck.
Arrange the Backyard Like an Outdoor Living Space
Even if you never used your backyard for entertaining, potential buyers want to see that it’s party-friendly. If you don’t have lawn furniture, like a table with an umbrella and some comfortable seating, borrow some. The more the area looks like an extension of your indoor living space, the better.
