If you’re buying a cattle ranch for sale in Lake City, a large farm, or any other home for sale in Lake City, you’ll be glad to know that there are several amazing parks and recreation areas in Columbia County – and one of them is Alligator Lake Park.
About Alligator Lake Park in Lake City, FL
This beautiful park, anchored by Alligator Lake, opened in 2002 for hiking and biking. There’s a picnic area and playground, too, but the vast network of hiking trails is what really draws people to this park. There are easy and moderate hikes, and you can travel up to 6.3 miles in just one trip. Loops and spurs are common along the pathways, providing you with even better views as you trek through the natural landscape.
Trails include the Montgomery Trail and the Possum Trot Trail. If you want a shorter hike, do the Montgomery trail and turn around when you see the trailhead for Possum Trot; if you’re in the mood for a longer one, keep going. You can also head off the Possum Trail on the Capybara Trail, the Eagle Trail, Deer Trail, the Bobcat Trail or the Willow Pond Trail.
There are restrooms at Alligator Lake Park, as well as launching spots if you want to get up-close-and-personal with the wildlife in the water or wetlands.
