It’s important to note that a mature horse might require between 2 and 2.5 acres of pasture to have enough grazing space – but if the pasture is productive and well-managed, particularly during the summer, the same horse may only need 1 to 1.5 acres.

If the pasture isn’t irrigated, or if the grass doesn’t grow particularly well, you could need up to 38 acres of land (which is more common in the west, such as Arizona, than it is in Florida) to meet your horse’s forage needs.
