USDA Loans for Veterans to Buy Farms in Florida

If you’re a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, you likely qualify for a VA loan benefit – but you can only use your VA loan if you’re buying a farm that has a residence on it, and if you intend to make that house your primary residence (that is, live in it most of the time). But what if you just want to buy a farm and already have housing covered?

That’s where USDA loans for veterans to buy farms come in.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture offers special loans to veterans of the American military – the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard – to help them purchase farms.

The USDA’s Farm Service Agency, or FSA, provides these farm loan programs to enable veterans to:

Purchase farmland
Buy equipment
Make repairs or upgrades

The FSA Microloan Program is also very popular among veterans. It provides smaller amounts of support, but can help you grow your farming business if you’re a vet of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Another USDA program that can benefit you as a veteran is the Minority and Socially Disadvantaged Farmers Assistance Program, which is for historically underserved farmers and ranchers, including women, African-Americans, Alaskan natives, Native Americans, Hispanic farmers, Asian farmers, and native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
